Ms. Workman is division senior vice president, compliance counsel, of the legislative compliance consulting practice within the benefits and human resources consulting division of Gallagher. She is responsible for developing compliance resources and tools and educating clients on how to interpret and address complex legislative requirements affecting employee benefits. Ms. Workman’s broad experience in legislative and regulatory matters includes expertise in PPACA, HIPAA, including privacy and security, and day-to-day compliance issues. When working with clients, Ms. Workman not only delivers relevant compliance information and materials, but also focuses on providing meaningful guidance. She has both a passion and a reputation for explaining rules and regulations to clients’ employees in a clear, relatable way that allows them to understand their role in compliance and its importance. This ability, combined with resources Ms. Workman develops to demystify compliancesuch as a scalable HIPAA compliance solution, helps employers avoid penalties and manage overall risk. She is a frequent speaker at industry events on topics ranging from health care reform to HIPAA privacy and security and wellness programs. Ms. Workman has appeared at client seminars and events held by the Society for Human Resource Management and the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists, as well as CPA-related and other industry organizations. She graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a B.A degree from the Plan II Honors Program. Ms. Workman received her juris doctor degree from the University of Houston Law Center, earned the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation and is CEBS-Compliant. She currently serves as a member of the Governing Council of ISCEBS. She is a Fellow of ISCEBS and has chaired the Symposium Education and Professional Development Committees.
